In the 1980s-1990s, most condo chimneys were built to pass through a common, open shaft. These constructions are no longer compliant, because in the event of a fire, the fire penetrates the shaft and the risk of propagation to the upper floors is extremely high.
Rectify the situation
Retrofitting aims to delay the possible spread of fire between floors, from 45 minutes to more than 2 hours, by building separate technical shafts, or by other engineer-approved insulation measures, as required by the building code.
Steps to follow
