REGULATIONS VILLE DE MONTRÉAL
Did you know? The city of Montreal still allows the installation of wood-burning fireplaces on its territory. However, since October 1, 2018, if they wish to continue using it, citizens of the 19 boroughs of the city of Montreal must ensure that their fireplaces emit less than 2.5 gr/h of particulates.
An old fireplace emits between 70 and 100 gr/h of particulate emissions. So it’s important to make sure you convert your appliance to a regulated energy-efficient model.
